I'm so excited about our baby's room. I walked home from work yesterday (it's only a mile) and along the way there is a Tai Pan Trading. This is one of my favorite stores of all time. I stopped in and while looking around I had a wonderful idea. How about decorating the baby's room with stars. We have it painted and the green is a little on the bright side, so I'm hoping a lot of blue will tone this down. So, here's the idea. I've ordered a mounted print of Vincent van Gogh's, Starry Night. As you can see, this picture is mostly blue. This is one of my favorite pictures. Then I am going to hang a few of the smaller tin stars painted blue. Stars are all over the place right now in decorating accessories, so it's probably meant to be. And I have always loved glow in the dark stars so I have a bunch of these already to put on the ceiling. My sister, Kelly has kindly offered to make some vinyl lettering for my wall in a twinkle, twinkle little star saying. I think it will all look so great!! I'm excited. Darren said it was a good idea. I think he just lets me go crazy with this decorating stuff. And I do go a little crazy. He's so nice!!

Darren had a dream
So, Darren was just telling me about a dream he had a few nights ago. We had our baby, he was a boy and we had named him Harrison. In the dream Harrison was talking to Darren even though he was just a little baby. He told him, "now I understand that I'm coming to your family, but I'm going to make my own decisions and I'm going to be an investigative journalist." So, Darren started telling him all of the things he learned in his last class at school because that would help him achieve his dream.
Our son Harrison, the investigative journalist.... Who knew??

Baby pictures
Here are the first pictures of our son, now that we know he's a boy!!! In the first shot he's sucking his thumb. The second is a picture of his face and tummy and arms. So cute!!! (I think he looks like Darren.!)

Updated baby's room
Here's our little boy's room now. I just wanted to see what the colors look like together. We already have the navy rug, so I guess it was meant to be, eh?
And our baby is....
A BOY!!!
I have pictures that I'll post later. We're very excited for this!! Yippee!!!

My Political Stance
My friend Jenny posted this political quiz on her blog. I think it's interesting. I tested right where I'm happy to be. I don't feel "extreme" in any direction, so moderate is great. You can take the test too. Just click here.

Half Way!!!!
Woo Hoo!!! Today I'm officially half way through my pregnancy. Here's the status of my baby now. I'll have actual pictures of my baby to post on Wednesday, so I'll just give the stats.
When you are 20 weeks pregnant, your baby measures about 5.6 to 6.4 inches and weighs about 9 ounces. It's amazing -- your baby can do so many things, but he or she is not yet 1 pound!
Your baby can hear sounds now, and it will cover its ears with its hands if a loud sound is made near you or "jump" if it is startled. Your baby will also be moving a lot -- twisting, turning, punching, and kicking. You still may not feel this movement, or it may feel just like butterflies or stomach rumblings. Your baby is starting to grow hair on his or her head! Other fetal development that typically takes place around week 20 of pregnancy includes the following:

- A protective, waxy skin covering (called vernix caseosa) is forming to protect the baby's skin from the amniotic fluid
- Delicate eyebrows are forming
- If your baby is a girl, her uterus is starting to develop
- Your baby's skin is thickening and developing layers, including the dermis, epidermis, and subcutaneous layer
- Nail growth begins.

No news yet.
I had my doctor's appointment yesterday. He was way behind, (which is why I'll never schedule another afternoon appointment). His ultra sound room was being used, so we just heard the heartbeat and went on our way. I did schedule my official ultra sound, though. It's April 18th at 9am. One week from today. I don't like waiting, but at least it's not much longer.

Darren's Done!!
Tomorrow is my doctor's appointment. I may have some news to post about the boy or girl growing inside me. More to come...
Lucky Darren
Well, Darren's last night of class is tonight. He is all finished with his Bachelor's degree now. I'm super jealous, but very happy for Darren. I still have classes until August, but we will both be walking in graduation on May 5th. I only have 3 1/2 classes left. That's not so bad. It's exciting to be ending this phase of our lives. Who knows, one or both of us may go on to pursue Master's Degrees, but school is nearing an end for now. Hooray!! Especially for Darren. I can have my Hooray in August when I'm actually all done.

One more week...
I have my Doctor's appointment next week. We may be able to find out if it's a girl or a boy. How exciting!!!
So, this week I am noticing a little bit of a "pooch". I feel it especially when I need to lean forward or bend over. It's some kind of proof that I'm still pregnent, so that's good. All is still going well.
I'm in my nesting phase right now, I think. I've been trying to get our house tidied up and everything put away. There are things that have just been sitting around since we moved in almost 2 1/2 years ago. It's good to get them put away. Our next step is to paint the baby's room. We're painting the walls a lime green and the ceiling a light yellow. I have a yellow chair that needs to stay in the room, so hopefully this will tie that in. The rest of our furniture is cream so I want all the walls painted for some sort of contrast. It will be fun to see how it turns out. I'll be sure to post pictures. For now, here's a mock up of how the colors may look together. This is of course assuming it's a girl. I kind of like it.
