Judson Hearts Elmo

Judson has the diapers with Elmo on them. For the past few months I have showed him the Elmo on the diaper and sang the Elmo's world song while I change him. Judson also watched Sesame Street and loves anytime Elmo is on the screen. For the first little while of singing the Elmo song and saying Elmo Judson would "la la la" to let me know he wanted to hear the song. Then he would say Elmo. Now he sings the high note of "that" from the part that says "that's Elmo's world". It's so cute. We have fed his obsession with Elmo a bit. We have a ball, paper bowls, books and an Elmo stuffed animal. He pretty much says Elmo at anything. I don't know what he wants, but I think he just likes saying Elmo's name. My dilemma at the moment is I can't bring myself to spending $60 on Elmo Live. When we're at the store and Judson sees the Elmo Live his eyes light up and he says Elmo so excitedly. I feel a little guilty not giving in and getting it for him, but I just can't. $60 is way too much to spend. So last week we went to the Library. We were very excited to see an Elmo doll that's about a head taller than Judson. This doll doesn't do anything, but Judson's eyes lit up still the same. I have decided that we'll just go and visit this big Elmo doll every now and then. It's free and just as exciting. Am I a bad mom for not getting a big Elmo to bring home?
Doesn't he look so happy?

GO BYU!!!

Ok, so by birth and because my passion for College sports is stronger than Darren's, Judson is a BYU fan. (Darren is a BYU fan too. Especially at my parent's house during football and basketball season.) Judson was able to go to his first BYU basketball game this last week with me and my parents. It was fun. Judson sat the whole time watching the game. He would yell out "ball" when he noticed the ball. The cheering from the crowd made him nervous and frightened at times, but he still loved it. BYU won.

On the note of BYU winning, I think they're going to win this Saturday. Utah has been lucky up to this point, but their luck will run out when faced with the skill of BYU. You know it's true.
GO BYU!!!!

My 1st Baby

These are some of my favorite pics from the first 14-months. He is such a cute baby!!

I got this email survey from one of my friends. It was fun to fill out and remember all this stuff. I thought it would be fun to put on the blog.

1. Were you married at the time? Yes
2. What were your reactions when you found out you were pregnant? I wasn’t really surprised; I was in denial for the first couple of weeks. I took 3 pregnancy tests to make sure.
3. How old were you? 28
4. How did you find out you were pregnant? Well, I was late. I had been on birth control for 2 ½ years, so it was weird to be late.
5. Who did you tell first? Darren
6. Did you want to find out the sex? Yes, I am a planner.
7. Due date? September 1, 2007
8. Did you deliver early or late? 3 days early by emergency C-section (August 29, 2007)
9. Did you have morning sickness? No, I wasn’t sick at all my whole pregnancy. I felt better than I had in years. I know a lot of you will be bugged by that.
10. What did you crave? No Cravings. I was a cleaner/organizer the whole time, though.
11. Who irritated you the most? I didn’t get any more irritated than usual. Everyone irritates me at one time or another.
12. What was your first child's sex? Boy
13. How many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy? 50. I lost all the weight the 11 days after that I was in the hospital for pneumonia. I do not endorse this program for losing the baby weight, though.
14. Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Not during pregnancy, but I did have an emergency C-section because of lack of baby movement. It turns out that I probably had gestational diabetes that was never detected. Judson came out as a diabetic baby. I contracted pneumonia after being discharged from the hospital and went back in for 11 days. All was well a few weeks after birth for both me and Judson, though.
15. Where did you give birth? Cottonwood Hospital – 1-month before it closed.
16. How many hours were you in labor? None, the baby hadn’t even dropped.
17. Who drove you to the hospital? I drove. Darren and I were just going in for a non-stress test.
18. Was it natural or c-section? C-section
19. Did you take medicine to ease the pain? Epidural w/morphine
20. How much did your child weigh? 9 lbs 2 oz.
21. Did your child have any complications? Yes, he was born with breathing problems and blood sugar problems. The breathing problems were resolved in the first 24 hours. It took 10 days in the NICU to get the blood sugar under control.
22. What did you name him/her? Judson Darren
23. How old is your first born today? 14 months
24. Who does your child look like? From day one everyone said he looked just like me and my dad, but now he’s shifting over and looking more like Darren.
