Lent days 2 & 3

I am happy to report that my Lent goal is still going well. Day 2 I did well mostly because it was WW weigh-in at 6pm so I didn't eat much all day. Stepha and I went out for dinner after and I had a yummy Fajita Salad. Very healthy and delicious.
Today has been a little more tough because I don't have much to do and I don't have a weigh-in to think about. I've done well, however. I went to Sweet Tomatoes with my parent's tonight and ate my whole plate of salad. I usually get a whole plate of salad to start with and only eat about half because salad isn't my thing. Tonight the salad was so yummy. I am proud of me for sticking to my goal. I have decided to report about this as often as possible. It will help me to keep on track and hopefully inspire someone else to make a change for the better. Even if the change is just for today, it's nice to strive to be better.

Happy Lent!!

I don't know if happy is really the correct greeting for Lent, but it fit's my situation fine. I have been observing Lent since we lived in Wisconsin. I know that it is usually observed by Catholics, Lutherans and Protestants, but everyone in Wisconsin I worked with introduced me to Lent and I thought it was a great idea. Usually each year I give up sugar for Lent. Well, that is not the case this year. I have decided to challenge myself this year. So for Lent I am going to strictly stick to Weight Watchers, exercise and not eat Easter candy. I have been going to WW since February of last year. I haven't really done well on the plan. I haven't gained any weight in the last year, but I've only lost 8 lbs. That's ok, but not at all what I need to lose. So I'm putting my Lent goals in writing and I'll be updating on here with my progress. I'm happy for this goal to be a more healthy me. It's about time!!!! Wish me luck. Lent started yesterday and so far I've been perfect at my goal. Yeah for me! One day down, 39 to go!

I have a Job!!

Yeah!!! I got a job! I'm so excited. It's in the accounting field. I will be working at University of Southern Nevada (South Jordan Campus) in the accounting department. I'm very happy that I got this job. I saw the posting the day I got laid off. It's been a long process, but all that is left is my background check and I'm sure that will pass with flying colors. I feel so blessed to be able to not just get a new job, but improve and grow in my field. This job will be challenging and I will learn so much about accounting. I am super excited that this all worked out!!!

Happy Birthday Cami!!!

I wanted to wish my baby sister a happy birthday today. She is 24!!! It seems to me like she should still be 12, but it's not up to me, I guess. We love hanging out with Cami and Juan. They are so much fun. I always say that Juan is a Jr. version of Darren. They're funny boys!!! Anyway, Happy Birthday Cami!!! I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Beardcicle

Darren went night skiing yesterday. We had been talking about it being so cold that he'd have a beardcicle and he did. He took a picture to share in his beardcicle joy!!

Happy President's Day, Darren!!

Yesterday was President's Day. Traditionally this day is to celebrate Washington and Lincoln's Birthdays, but I notified Darren that for me the celebration has changed. I told Darren that President's day is for him because he's the president of our family. (I also told him that I'm the Senate and the Congress so I make all the decisions and he really has no say, but he's the pretty face on the poster saying he's president. I'm nice, eh?) Anyway, we celebrated by going to the zoo. It was fun. I haven't been to the zoo since elementary school. Judson loved seeing all the animals. It was a little chilly out, but we survived. Darren's sister Tiffany and her husband Brandon and their son Trajen joined us. Judson and Trajen always love being together.

We measured Judson to see if he is growing like a gorilla. Not yet, but maybe someday.

We visited the Elephants. Judson loves Elephants. He always tries to make the trumpet noise with his mouth, but it just sounds more like a raspberry. It's so cute. This elephant was trying to escape. He was taking his log wall apart a piece at a time.

At the zebra area we saw a lady in a black and white striped shirt. I thought she was dressing like the animals. Then I thought it would be fun to dress like a different animal each time we went to the zoo. Then I thought that would be nerdy, so I dismissed the idea all together.

At the Giraffe's area we were standing by a Giraffe that liked to get close. He or she kept trying to get close to Brandon's hat. There was a lady standing by Brandon and the Giraffe's head got really close, but couldn't quite reach her. As she was calling her daughter to come over, the giraffe's tongue came out. The tongue was at least a foot long and black and it tried to get her sweater. It was funny. We had a great time at the zoo. We have a family pass for the year, so we'll be going back often. Yeah for the zoo!!

Family Dinner

Kelly and Carley's last night here we went out to dinner. It was fun to have so many of our family there. We ate at Madeline's in South Jordan. It was very good. My parent's had been there before, and always liked it. It's a steak and ribs restaurant, so it's pricey, but yummy. Anyway, I'll stop my unpaid testimonial now. I'm very happy that it's so fun to spend time with my brothers, sisters and their spouses. We always have such a good time when we get together. I can't wait until Kelly, Ginger and their families are back in Utah. Hopefully they'll be in Utah. And hopefully soon. Until then, it's always great when they visit!!

Happy President's Day

We had a great time with Kelly and Carley. It was fun to have them here with us. Judson just loved hanging out with Carley. He learned her name quickly, said it often and even asked for her many days after she had gone bye, bye. He misses his cousin now. They played well together. Carley taught Judson how to love playing in his tent. I'm happy about that. I've wanted Judson to like his tent more. We miss Kelly and Carley and hope we can see all of our Eastern family again soon.
Here's a little shout out to Brooke!! She turned 14 yesterday! Happy Birthday, Brooke!!!

Our Valentine's Day was fun. We didn't do much, but enjoyed our time together. We watched movies, ordered Chili's to go and ate at home and then we went on an evening drive and listened to Showtunes Saturday Night, one of our favorite things to do!! We gave Judson a balloon for his Valentine's gift. Judson loves balloons. He calls them "loons" and is so happy playing with it. It's the best 2 bucks I've ever spent!!
I love Darren and I'm very happy that we love just spending time with each other and hanging out with Judson. I'm happy and my boys were the best Valentine's I could ever hope for!!!
